NOMV Miles

Running has always been one of my favorite pass times and it’s a great way for me to unwind for the day. We’ve spent the last 3 years, day in and day out, helping take care of the Keota Veterinary Clinic, its fantastic staff, and the clients that call us family. Being a veterinarian is one of the most fulfilling professions, but can be one of the toughest and unfortunately one of the most stressful.  Luckily, I’ve had the chance to lace up and have ran 300 miles since the start of 2022. I plan to run a 50 mile race in July and a 100 mile race in September, with various shorter races sprinkled in. Who knows, maybe a few more ultramarathons to get in some more miles.

 

I personally plan to support Not One More Vet (NOMV) by pledging $1 for every mile ran in 2022. I have the ever reaching goal of 1,000 miles. Veterinarians are one of the highest at risk professions for mental health problems. The suicide risk is twice that of other health care professions. Our group aims to decrease this risk through online peer to peer support, education, mental health resource databasing and direct veterinarian support.
